Saturday: 18th Week in Ordinary Time-A

Gospel: Matthew 17:14-20: If you had faith, nothing would be impossible for you.
The Powerless Disciples: A Great Lesson on Faith and Power
This is an excellent study on power and faith. The points speaks for themselves.
1. Jesus after the transfiguration (v.14)
a. Joined the crowd
b. Was approached by a desperate man

2. The tragedy of no power (v.15-16)

a. Desperate need unmet
b. A frantic disappointment
c. An embarrassing situation
3. The rebuke of no power (v.17-18)
a. His presence will not be always available
b. His patience was limited
c. His power broke the power of Satan
4. The clear reason for no power: Unbelief (v.19-20)
5. The great power of faith promised (v.20)
Thought: A faithless person cannot receive the blessings of God. When the faith and power of people fail, then we need to go to Christ for his power and compassion to meet our need. An active faith can remove mountain.
