TUESDAY- 14TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME –B
Gospel: Matthew 9: 32-38: The harvest is rich but the labourers are few.
I Reading: Genesis 32:23-33: Your name shall be Israel, because you have been strong against God.
The Mission of the Messiah, Mt 9: 35-38
The mission of the Messiah was threefold (see outline Mt 4:12-17, 23).
1.     His Ministry: To minister (v.35)
a.     Method: went forth
b.    Place: everywhere
c.      Work: teaching, preaching and healing
d.    Message: the gospel of the kingdom
2.     His Compassion: To demonstrate compassion (v.36)
a.     Crowds harassed: weary and bewildered
b.    Crowds helpless
c.      Crowds as sheep without a shepherd
3.     His Vision: To call men to the greatest of all visions (v.37-38)
a.     A great harvest
b.    A great need for labourers
c.      A great need for prayer
d.    A great force of labourers
Thought: We need prayer, great concern and compassion for the poor, commitment, dedication, faith, conviction and love for Christ in the mission of Jesus Christ.
