WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME –B
Gospel: Luke 17:20-25: The kingdom of God is among you.
I Reading: Philemon 7-20: Have him back, not as a slave any more, but as a dear brother.
The Coming Day of God’s Kingdom and Jesus’ Return, Lk 17:20-37
The
religionists asked when the kingdom of God was going to come. The kingdom of God
was the focus of Jesus’ preaching and conversation. The Messiah had come and
the kingdom of God was to be ushered in.

The coming of God’s kingdom (v.20-21)

The day will be longed for (v.22)

The day is unknown; it is coming suddenly and visibly (v.23-24)

The day cannot come until some things happen first (v.25)

The day will be as the days of Noah and Lot: Men will be occupied with normal,
routline affairs (v.26-30)

Thought: The
kingdom of God refers to the Messianic kingdom which is internal and external
also. People cannot control the kingdom of God.
